In September 1998, Karthigai arrived at the Amar Seva Sangam  with severe leg problems due to polio. Two years later, after being in the supportive, caring atmosphere that the ASSA provides, she has improved the strength and flexibility of her spinal muscles, and has gradually improved her academic abilities. Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Anusha Raghuraman, her potential as a student can finally help her to be an even healthier and determined individual.
