IHI 2006

The IHI 2006 team will continue with the previous two teams’ efforts with non-governmental organizations such as Teddy Trust and Amar Seva Sangam, while initiating new partnerships with other organizations.

Teddy Trust is a UK-based charity dedicated to eradicating AIDS in Tamil Nadu.  Students will conduct HIV/AIDS seminars with local secondary school and college students from English-medium institutions.  They will also train local college students to continue the long-term educational efforts regarding this illness.  IHI 2006 will strive to increase awareness of First Aid/CPR techniques through instruction to various populations.  They will also engage in various medical/health electives in public and private hospitals.

Amar Seva Sangam is a charity operating from rural Tamil Nadu that provides education and opportunity for physically and/or mentally disabled individuals to acquire skills needed for basic living and self-sufficiency.  Here, IHI members will work with staff to this end, and hold educational workshops on disability and autism for locals.  They will also provide informational seminars on First Aid/CPR, and follow up on research on the impact of rehabilitation programs administered by Amar Seva Sangam.

As previously mentioned, IHI 2006 will build new relationships with other organizations in order to spread its impact in India.
