Notable Events in 2011


The year started with a visit to Amar Seva Sangam by our Secretary Srini B. Srinivasan and wife Meena. They spent an eventful week with the children. Click here to read their impression of ASSA and photos during their visit.

Dr. Rob Saona and Robyn Smith Saona - the newly weds, spent a week of their honeymoon trip at Amar Seva Sangam in Sept.- Oct. 2011. Robyn, a physiotherapist had spent 4 months at Amar Seva Sangam in 2009-2010 and she was so impressed with ASSA, that she made sure she brought her husband soon after their wedding. Dr. Dinesh & Kavitha Krishna made plans to spend a few weeks at ASSA during Kavitha's pregnancy, so they will be back in Canada in time for the delivery They spent quality time with the kids, youth and the Spinal Cord Injured and came back with plenty of photos and video footage. Sulo Krishnamurthy received “Parama Guru” award for “20 years of dedicated service to the rural poor in India from abroad” from “Annai Varahi Trust” in Chennai on Sept. 25th. Click here to see photos.

Oct. 15, 2011 marked our major events day - Agraharam Productions staged a Tamil play - "IRAVAA VARAM THAARUM" to raise funds for our projects. It was a grand success as a result of which HCI is able to meet its commitments. Click here to see photos.




The Year in Review !!!!

As the year 2011 is coming to a close, it is time to review and see how the year shaped...

It has been another eventful year for HCI... We achieved the goals that we had set forth. All our sponsorship programs are running in full gear with successful outcome and many successful stories to share...

  • HCI has continued the sponsorship of 5 "Spinal Cord Injured" in 2011 @ $4000 per patient year year. 6 SCI patients sponsored by HCI, during 2010-2011 have been successfully rehabilitated and discharged. Each one of them is placed in gainful employment... Click here to see more details.

  • HCI has 29 new sponsorships under "Adopt A Child" program. Our current sponsorship of children supported for education, rehabilitation and empowerment stands at 205. 108 of them are under permanent endowment and 97 are under yearly sponsorships.   • 53 children from our past sponsorships have successfully completed the program and discharged.

  • 36 new dates have been added to the "Meal For A Day" program

GOAL FOR 2012

HCI board has approved a request from Amar Seva Sangam to fund an Expansion of their current school, by adding more class rooms and building a brand new Science Lab. The estimated cost is around $75,000 Can. This is to accommodate the increasing number of students who want quality education in an accredited reputable school. ASSA is the only good school in the rural district comprising of several villages. The current school, which has been growing and expanding over the past years has produced the highest graduation rate with several students winning Gold and Silver medals.

HCI is committed to offer quality education to the underprivileged children and the success of such an endeavor is monumental as we have proved in the past years. We will be requesting your support to help us with this project. We will provide more information soon.
