Dear ,

I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for your kindness and generosity over the past several years in sponsoring children with disabilities. Your donations have impacted the lives of The child below is fortunate to have children (See the chart below). We also express our appreciation of your confidence in us to deliver what we promise. We have been honoring our commitments, however some changes have become imminent due to the prevailing conditions in India.

I hereby bring to your attention, the following changes in your sponsorships for children.

  1. Expiration of sponsorship donations: Out of the 0 sponsorships by endowments, 0 of them have expired and the funds are fully utilized. We had projected perpetual support through the interest earned in your endowments, based on the then prevailing economic conditions. But during the past 5 years, unexpected events like COVID, soaring inflation, and more importantly enhancements in the program to include more and more services that were not in the original model. We also had to hire therapists with more specialization, incurring higher salary payouts. All these factors forced us to withdraw funds from the endowments since the interest alone was not enough to run the program successfully. Hence from 2020 onwards, we modified the program to "7-year Grant" per child, whereby we can offer the enhanced rehab program for a child to completion in 7 years. Hence we bring to your attention that the old endowments which started in 2009 to 2016 had to undergo expiration. Please click https://handicareintl.org/sponsorship/sponsored_children_list.php?sid= to get details. The White rows show the list that is currently active. The Grey rows are children who were successfully rehabilitated and the endowments were transferred to other children. The Orange rows are children who are transferred to the RIGHTS project (Explanation below) run by the Tamil Nadu Govt. We have given you replacement children shown in the White rows.
  2. Over the past several years, Amar Seva Sangam has actively engaged in getting Govt support to run the Early Intervention project. Since this program became very successful and within a short time, the number of service users jumped to more than 10,500 children, it became necessary to get the Govt support. The funds HCI and ASSA were raising were small and could not support the program effectively. We are happy to inform that the Govt of Tamil Nadu has finally taken over this program under the RIGHTs project. Hence we have given you replacements for your endowments from other programs such as Residential children and Children from Special education categories that are still completely under the wing of ASSA.
