WE DID It !!!!! .... ALL OF US !!!!
WALKATHON - 2015
A SUCCESSFUL, FUN FILLED ALL DAY EVENT
When we planned for the event and booked the park, we did not realize it was "FATHERS DAY" & "INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY" - Yet we had over 100 fathers celebrating with us. It was a momentous day for the children to spend a day at the park with their fathers and the fathers were so happy to teach the children the values of service and helping others. The children watched as their fathers pitched tents, carried heavy items around, walked, jogged and participated in Yoga, Tai chi, games etc...
Photos ..... (More will be updated soon. Plz mark this.)
We also celebrated "International YOGA day" by a doing a full hour of Yoga, led by an eminent teacher, Tea Shahbazi, who managed to fit in HCI event among other commitments on such an important day !!
TAI-CHI was a big hit as well, as many of us are unfamiliar with it. Dr. Ananthanarayanan, led an inspiring session for a whole hour... It was hard to tell that he is well past retirement and had a multiple heart by-pass less than a year ago !!
Thank you, Tea & Ananth....
VOLUNTEERS... What a team !!!! working tirelessly before and during the event, they made the event interesting and entertaining... Thank you to the entire team !!!
Many thanks to the volunteer food committee... wow, delicious mouth watering items, kept us satiated and energized ...
Many thanks to children's games and activity coordinators and conductors... they had Henna, Hair painting and Face painting.... the children had a blast...
We ended the day with an interesting Raffle Draw.... Most of the winners were still on site..
1st Prize: 25,000 Aeroplan Miles Value: $700 - WINNER : ANIKET HOODA
Every $ of your support counts... !! We reached our target to raise $20,000. This will support and sustain our focus on Early Intervention of childhood disabilities for children under 5 from poor rural villages. Our initiative has been a great success, with several children showing significant progress. Our program is considerably enhanced by professional therapists from Canada who regularly work and train the staff at Amar Seva Sangam.
MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL, WHO PARTICIPATED, PLEDGED AND SUPPORTED
SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR !!
